Description

It is on the slope of Cebereis Mountain, 12 km. east of Alanya center. Dim Cave is one of the most beautiful caves in Turkey. It is suitable for visiting because it is close to Alanya and the surrounding area is covered with picnic areas and forests. It was called "Gâvurini Cave" by the local people because it was used as a shelter by people in prehistoric and historical times.

Dim Cave was formed as a result of the melting of limestones extending in the north-south direction. As a result of the deepening of the Dim Stream Valley, the cave dried up as the water level went deeper. After the loss of hydrological activity, the cave continued to expand in volume due to the fall of rock blocks from the ceiling and walls. During this development the water seeping from the walls and ceiling caused the formation of stalactites, stalagmites, columns and flag and curtain limestones covering the walls. In the middle and last sections of the cave, rock blocks fallen from the ceiling cover the floor. There is a second entrance at the 40th m from the entrance. The cave is open for tourism.
