Description

Derbent Strait, which was one of the roads connecting the cities of Pamphylia and Pisidia in ancient times, continued its function during the Byzantine and Seljuk-Ottoman periods, and even became a migration route for Yoruks until recent times. On this road, which has been functioning for 2000 years, there are buildings that were used as military mansions in various periods for control purposes. This road, made of paved stones, gave its name to Döşemealtı District. The local people call the 4-meter-wide stone-paved road simply "Döşeme", the strait through which the road passes "Döşeme Gorge", and the plain under the road "Döşemealtı". Döşemealtı over time; It became the name of a group of villages here, then the entire plateau, the town center and eventually the district.
