The Suna & İnan Kıraç Mediterranean Civilizations Research Center (AKMED) Kaleiçi Museum is located in Kaleiçi, the heart of Antalya, in two buildings that are registered as cultural monuments. Purchased by Suna and İnan Kıraç, the buildings were opened to the public as "private museums" after extensive renovation in 1993-1995.The first building is a typical example of a two-story Antalya house of the 19th century. The building is organized as an ethnographic museum in which the typical life of Kaleiçi in the second half of the 19th century is presented with special effects; elements of Anatolian folk culture such as coffee service, groom shaving and henna night are staged.
The second building in the museum garden is an Orthodox church known to have been built in the name of Aya Yorgi (Agios Georgios), which was renovated in 1863. Organized as an exhibition space after the renovation, the main hall of the museum displays the rich collection of Çanakkale ceramics, while the upper floor hosts short-term thematic exhibitions related to local cultures.
